From the diary of a trainee

This blog post offers a glimpse into the training day for the apprentices at Photogenika. The day's task was a live portrait contest. On February 15th of this year, we apprentices had a joint training day. Our challenge was a live portrait contest. This is a kind of competition in which several photographers to create something unique under the same conditions. Today was about one woman portrait.Finally, our customers in Westend were allowed to vote on which of the four final sedcards they liked best.

The Contest

We were provided with a model, and each of us had about an hour to photograph her. The goal was to create four images for a portfolio: a headshot, a half-portrait, a full-body shot, and a candid, special image. The day was structured so that we spent the first four hours photographing and observing our colleagues – naturally, we supported each other throughout. After a delicious lunch break together, the second part of the day began, which consisted of selecting and editing our four best images.

The conclusion

Overall, it was a very interesting, educational, and fun day. What was particularly exciting was the fact that each of us had different ideas and how many different things you can do with one and the same model, and how multifaceted a person can be.
