Everyone Photographer trainee In his second year of apprenticeship, I had to complete a Photoshop course organized by the Chamber of Skilled Crafts. A year ago, I was able to go to Augsburg for two weeks with a few classmates. During the first week, we dedicated ourselves entirely to photography. We were allowed to take the flash units provided by the Photoshop course outside to take outdoor portraits of each other. We also photographed a car with the flashes outdoors, which wasn't easy due to the reflective surface. We quickly realized just how much work actually goes into producing the advertising posters of major car manufacturers. We also had the opportunity to photograph a model, create reportage-style images at the Augsburg city market, and take photos at the Augsburg Zoo next door. It was fantastic that we could also test special equipment, such as a special lens for architectural photography or an extreme telephoto lens that allows you to fill the frame with even very distant subjects. The second week of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts' Photoshop course focused on the Photoshop editing program itself. We were shown professional skin retouching techniques, the kind used in major beauty campaigns, as well as methods for editing architectural and advertising photos. It's always amazing how much digital trickery can be used to make a product as appealing as possible for advertising purposes. The Photoshop course in Augsburg was a great opportunity for me to try new things, and I'm glad I learned a lot about lighting, equipment, and Photoshop. Here are a few pictures I took during the two weeks! Yours, Ellena
